Compression
Uncompressed WAV sound files are very large, so we use one of two common 'codecs' to compress the file.
TrueSpeech is both the best voice quality and the smallest file, but may not be playable on Macs or Linux PCs without downloading a special player or voice codec. It plays fine on all versions of Windows. It is much smaller than an MP3 (1K per second)
GSM 6.10 is playable on most computers, is about twice the size of a TrueSpeech file, but the quality is not as good.
